Founder — Tihema Elliston “Tia”
Certified Industrial Hemp Cultivation & Education Practitioner

Coffs Hemp was founded by Tihema Elliston (Tia), bringing over 40 years of lived experience across hemp, cannabis, health, community, education, and industry engagement.

Tia has been formally studying industrial hemp cultivation for nearly two years and holds certification in industrial hemp cultivation, with a strong focus on compliant practice, sustainable systems, and real-world application.

As a former Legalise Cannabis candidate, Tia brings firsthand understanding of Australia’s legislative and regulatory landscape, ensuring Coffs Hemp operates with a strong emphasis on responsibility, compliance, and informed practice.

Why Coffs Hemp Exists

Hemp is one of the most versatile plants on earth, yet it has often been restricted or misunderstood due to its association with cannabis rather than recognised for its independent value. Coffs Hemp exists to help change that.

The platform bridges traditional plant knowledge, modern hemp industry practice, and Australia’s current regulatory framework, ensuring hemp is presented accurately, responsibly, and accessible.

Coffs Hemp operates through an education-led approach, with a focus on:

  • compliant, evidence-informed products

  • transparent sourcing and materials

  • community education and stigma reduction

  • real-world applications that support wellbeing and sustainability

The aim is to normalise hemp as a functional, everyday plant that supports individual health, community resilience, and long-term environmental outcomes.

Looking Ahead

Coffs Hemp was developed independently, shaped by lived experience and a deep commitment to change.

The platform grew out of advocacy work aimed at improving understanding, regulation, and opportunity within Australia’s hemp and cannabis landscape. That work continues here through education, community engagement, and practical demonstration.

The long-term vision is to establish a small hemp plot and education space—showing what is possible with the right knowledge, support, and belief. A place to teach practical skills, plant literacy, and pathways forward for people who feel limited by circumstance or systems.

Coffs Hemp exists to show that those limits are not permanent.

Support for this platform—through engagement, sharing, or donation—helps sustain this work and grow the vision into reality.

A Responsible, Informed Approach

Coffs Hemp does not promote exaggerated claims or unrealistic promises.

All products and educational content are guided by accuracy, transparency, and alignment with Australian standards and regulations.

Products are selected with an emphasis on ingredient clarity, everyday usability, and suitability for a wide range of people, including those with sensitive skin.

Educational content supports informed decision-making  empowering individuals to understand hemp and its applications without pressure or persuasion.

Rationale for Coffs Hemp’s Establishment

Hemp is widely recognised as one of the planet's most multifaceted plants; however, its potential has frequently been limited or misunderstood due to its association with cannabis rather than appreciation for its distinct value. Coffs Hemp exists to address and rectify this perception.

The platform serves to integrate traditional botanical knowledge, contemporary hemp industry practices, and Australia's current regulatory structures, ensuring that hemp is presented with accuracy, responsibility, and accessibility.

Coffs Hemp operates via an education-first model, concentrating on the following key areas:

  • The provision of compliant, evidence-informed products

  • Transparent sourcing and material disclosure

  • Community education initiatives and the reduction of societal stigma

  • Practical applications designed to support individual wellbeing and environmental sustainability

The overarching objective is to normalise hemp as a functional, everyday botanical resource that supports individual health outcomes, community resilience, and long-term environmental sustainability.

Future Directions

Coffs Hemp was developed independently, informed by lived experience and a deep commitment to advancing meaningful reform within Australia’s hemp and cannabis sectors.

The platform emerged from sustained advocacy focused on improving regulatory understanding, strengthening policy frameworks, and expanding viable economic pathways within a rapidly evolving industry. This work continues through targeted education, community engagement, and practical demonstration.

The long-term strategic vision includes the establishment of a dedicated small-scale hemp cultivation plot and integrated educational facility. This site will operate as a working model, demonstrating the commercial, environmental, and social potential achievable when knowledge, innovation, and regulatory compliance intersect effectively.

The objective is to create a replicable framework: one that strengthens regional economies, enhances plant literacy, and opens legitimate industry pathways for individuals navigating structural or systemic barriers.

Coffs Hemp is positioned at the intersection of advocacy, education, and applied enterprise. The next phase of growth invites aligned strategic partners and investors who recognise the emerging value of sovereign hemp infrastructure in Australia. Those interested in participating in the expansion of a purpose-driven, commercially scalable model are invited to connect and explore opportunities for collaboration.
